I don't know how many of you had checked California's Purple Mercy's same-titled debut album two years ago... It was a fine sludgy doom-crushing one. Well forget about what you heard back then. Now they're like a completely different band. "Private Pleasures" is a 70's psych influenced release with a lot of swirling, fuzzed-out guitars, a pinch of drones from time to time and some desert rock groove packed in a spaced-out outfit. I really liked their first one and I definitely love this one. A worth-checking release which caught me by surprise (since I was expecting something completely different).
